Cut 'N' Run Productions is a University of Pittsburgh supplier which provides video production, photography and audio-visual services. This local, Latinx/Hispanic owned business is in the Beechview neighborhood in Pittsburgh. Owner Jordan McMillen founded Cut ‘N’ Run Productions in 2003 and it was officially up and running in 2005. While this business may have started as a one-man operation based out of a home office, it has since greatly expanded. Cut ‘N’ Run Productions now has several employees and their own 6,000 square foot facility. They provide services for both individuals and large companies.
Founder and owner, Jordan McMillen, was born in Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela but grew up in Puerto Rico, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Jordan always knew that he wanted to work independently but wasn’t entirely sure what exactly that would entail. One day, he was the winner of a camcorder and with it he started making promotional videos for a band that he played in. This eventually led to Jordan shooting music videos and weddings. In a twist of events, Jordan lost his job which launched him into the opportunity to focus his full attention on his own business which led Cut ‘N’ Run Productions to being the success that it is today. Jordan says that the loss of one job was the motivation for him to pursue his own dreams. When we asked what the mission behind his business is, McMillen said:
“Our mission is to create an avenue that everyone involved can use to improve their lives.”
Cut ‘N’ Run Productions is a diverse company. Jordan says that to him “diversity offers unique perspectives and approaches to conventional situations. We feel that being unique gives us an edge on our competition.”
Along with being a proud diverse business, Cut ‘N’ Run Productions also values being an integral part of the Pittsburgh community. Jordan himself attended Pitt for a semester and they produced the live streaming video for the CUSEF Conference in 2022 and 2023. Cut ‘N’ Run Productions also offers an employee profit share program and many of the employees volunteer their time to various organizations when they can.

“I never went to school for video production, nor did I work in the industry before I entered it. I had a dream, I followed it, and I never gave up. If you never give up, you will never fail.”
