Dell University-wide Contracted Supplier Agreement

We are excited to announce that Dell has been awarded a new five-year Platinum-level University-wide Contracted Supplier agreement for desktop computers, laptop computers, personal rackmount or cloud-based servers and chassis components effective December 1, 2023.

This new agreement is the result of a comprehensive, competitive request for proposal process conducted in collaboration with key stakeholders from the University.

Dell has been a University-wide Contracted Supplier for endpoint computing devices since December 1, 2012, and this new five-year agreement provides the overall best value to the University as well as the following enhanced benefits:

  • Updated Standardized devices with volume discount pricing opportunities as part of the Standardization program, which was developed in close collaboration with Pitt IT. These standardized models were developed by Pitt IT with input from the university community and offer the overallbest pricing for routine computing needs. They utilize the latest generation form factor, processor and encompass personas such as Mainstream, Power User, High End and Highly Mobile.
  • Competitive pricing across the full Dell portfolio including supplier-branded Information Technology (IT) hardware products, supplier-branded generally available software, including microcode, firmware, operating systems or applications, or third-party products.
  • Special discounting for research computing needs (compute, GPU, storage, enterprise infrastructure).
  • Free standard shipping and freight charges except on rush orders.
  • All standard configurations will include a three-year ProSupport Plus warranty unless otherwise indicated on the applicable order. (Additional warranty options will be available for purchase when an order is placed, including extended length and “Basic” or "ProSupport" options.)
  • Competitive bidding process satisfies requirements for the US government’s Uniform Guidance as it applies to federal grants.

Please note:

  • Restocking Fees: Unless the device is defective or the return is a direct result of a supplier error, Dell may charge a restocking fee of 5% of the purchase price paid, less shipping and handling, which would be applied through a total reduced refund or credit.
  • Returns: 30-day return policy in accordance with the return policy found at Dell Technologies Returns.

As a reminder, University Policy AO 30 requires the use of University-wide contracted suppliers, when available, for the product being purchased. University-wide contracted suppliers, such as Dell, offer the best overall value to the University. In addition to discounted prices for the University's most frequently purchased items, University-wide contracted suppliers offer excellent service, direct, on-time and generally free delivery, a quick and easy paperless ordering and payment process through the PantherExpress System, and other important contractual protections for the University.
