PopWorld is a participating restaurant of the America To Go (ATG) program. America To Go is a University-wide Contracted Supplier which is available for catering orders through a punchout in the PantherExpress System. With a menu full of unique and delicious popsicles, PopWorld is a must try in the Pittsburgh area!
Founder and proud Pitt alumnus, Amy Beneditti, grew up in rural Pennsylvania and attended the University of Pittsburgh. Although she left the city a few times, she always came back and says that “Pittsburgh is home.” PopWorld is a woman-owned business that is on their way to being certified accordingly.
Originally, Amy spent years working in social services and helping people in great need. While she has a large amount of appreciation for her time spent in that career, she felt it was time for a change. After learning that there is more than one way to put a smile on a face, PopWorld was created out of Amy’s love for the culinary arts and mindset that food is a great way to connect with people and create something positive. She says that PopWorld has allowed her to bring something pleasant to a lot of people and she is very grateful for it.
PopWorld started in 2020. While this was a difficult time for many and led to a slow start for the business, it allowed the PopWorld team to take the time to perfect their recipes and production that make it all work today.
The menu of popsicles or “pops” came from Amy’s genuine love of pops. Amy recalls making these sweet treats and visiting pop shops anywhere that she could. As she shifted into her career change, she found people were asking for pops at events, making it clear that there was a market for pops in the Pittsburgh area.
PopWorld’s goal is to provide a refreshing, whole food treat that can be easily enjoyed by everyone. Pops are vegan and gluten-free naturally and PopWorld can work with most dietary restrictions or preferences. With flavors ranging from simple Strawberry and Banana Milkshake to more adventurous flavors like Avocado/Lime and Mango/Chipotle, PopWorld has something for everyone to enjoy. They even do special order “Boozy Pops” with flavors including Bourbon/Peach and Watermelon Mojito!
To engage with their local Pittsburgh community, PopWorld makes it a point to employ local teens at their summer events. They also offer a fundraising option for local organizations to take advantage of. Amy also never forgets her roots as a University of Pitt alumnus and currently employees two Pitt students.
When asked if there is a fan favorite menu item, PopWorld shared that “Favorite flavors change with the season but our always-have flavors: strawberry, banana milkshake, cherry-berry, avocado-lime, tutti-frutti are always there because they are popular.”
