Web Hosting & Website/page Development

University websites serve as a key communication channel for schools, departments, faculty, and staff, but they must be properly maintained to prevent compromises such as malware, data theft, and defacement. A compromised site can have serious consequences, ranging from reputational damage to data breaches that could jeopardize ongoing research or business operations. To mitigate these risks, the University requires that all websites be hosted using the approved options outlined on the Pitt Digital Approved Website Hosting Options page.  Third-party developers (vendors) used to create websites must go through a Vendor Security Risk Assessment prior to beginning work or being granted access to University IT resources.
